The good thing about the ES File Explorer is that it supports cloud drives like Google Drive and Dropbox, so the idea is to copy the RetroArch APK into your cloud drive along side many retro games images you can find. If not, search for it and install as you would do on any Android device. The first step is to install the ES File Explorer on your Fire Stick, which can be done easily as the shortcut should be already visible for you on the device’s home screen. With a little research, I realized that the new Fire TV Stick 4k would let me install RetroArch with less work and with no need to connect a USB device to the device. I re-watched the video and then decided to try it out on my new device.
I then remembered that I posted another article in July 2018 about playing retro games on the Amazon Fire Stick, basically pointing to an excellent YouTube video. All that thanks to the fact the Amazon Fire TV Stick is an Android device after all. For the streaming part, the Fire TV Stick is great and works well, offering some other Canadian streaming services that my other devices didn’t. The price was good and I was curious to see how the small device performs. How about playing Treasure Island Dizzy on the big screen TV!?Ī few weeks ago the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4k was on sale on Amazon Canada and I decided to get one, although I already had many other ways to stream Netflix and other streaming services (fact that my sons keep reminding (mocking!) me every time I use the new device).
